Chokecherry
Visions - Now what is a chokecherry you might wonder? How did this bush
get into this cultural outline ? Surely there must be others more important
? Actually this tree has been overlooked and neglected. The fruit some say
is inedible. Not so ! A taste for its fruit must be acquired and
cultivated. At first it chokes ones mouth up, and people often spit out the
berry. However, if you keep nibbling away it starts growing on you. You can't
eat too much, but it makes an excellent snack. Trees are highly individual in
the taste of the fruit. After you develop a taste your mouth will water at the
sight of these delicious berries.
The chokecherry symbolizes the spicy, tangy nature of Canada. Perceptions

The colour of individual chokecherry bushes can vary from lighter green
to a purplish colour.
