I once had a chance meeting with a local well known and respected Federal politician here in Calgary. We had an interesting conversation. I mentioned the unfair treatment his party had been getting from some of the media. He said there are a few different options for dealing with the media by a political party(1) ignoring the media is no option (you can't ignore a rabid dog chewing on your leg) (2) manipulating them is a favored option - use them for your own ends (3) or you can be like Pierre Trudeau and just give them the finger. Actually, I would say if you can somehow come to overlook the serious damage these media people cause (they have caused enormous damage in Canada) - they really are good for a laugh. I am finding myself more and more just getting a good hearty laugh from the ridiculous nonsense and political games of the media. The most charitable thing I can say about the media establishment is that they bore me to death - so utterly predictable and tiresome they are to me. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (the CBC) Let me start with the great Mother Corp. here in Canada - the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
I used to be a great fan of the CBC Radio and TV. Really loved and enjoyed their various programs like Morningside, The House with Jason Moscavich, The Nature of Things, and many more. However, I am now sadly no longer a fan of the CBC. For maybe the past 15 years I have noticed a remarkable deterioration in the programming of the CBC. Much more disturbing is the insidious, and relentless propaganda the CBC has been vomiting up. When I tune in I am able to almost automatically detect and screen out their left wing, feminist, anti-Christian, aboriginal, ethnic, politically correct, homosexual agenda and propaganda. The political agenda of the CBC has poisoned the organization. I am still able to glean out some good stuff from their programs, and from the Newscasts. But I am an old hand at this, and can almost instantly smell out their propaganda. Unfortunately many other viewers, and listeners are not so aware, and can easily be brainwashed. The CBC is definitely slanted towards the left politically. Their favorites are the NDP and other left wing socialist causes. The feminist agenda of the CBC is overbearing, and it adversely affects their programming. It is common knowledge the CBC is strongly pro homosexual. They cater to the ethnics and aboriginals. They definitely are politically correct. Policy suggestions regarding the CBC Communications (CBC) - promoting our own culture (from the cultural outline ), 100% domestic content except for news. No commercial advertising allowed on CBC - this applies to both radio and TV. Non-profit charitable organizations get free advertising on CBC, but the timing and length of ads must be shared fairly. The station shall be a public service. If the station refuses to drop it's feminist, homosexual, anti-male, aboriginal, politically correct, immigrant and ethnic agenda and propaganda - it will be shut down, but only if the voters approve of this in a referendum question on the ballot. Fair and balanced reporting is expected. They are expected to base their programming on aspects of the common culture found in this proposed constitution. However, they are not to be a voice, or mouthpiece of the government. The organization can be shut down if the voters say so in a referendum question. Parliament is required to continue funding the organization at reasonable levels in order to maintain the integrity of the organization. But only as long as the people want it to continue surviving. Recent Developments To be perfectly honest - I personally have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the CBC should be shut down. The political agenda of the station is too engrained and too deep. Their left wing, feminist, anti-Christian, aboriginal, ethnic, politically correct, homosexual agenda and propaganda is so deep and so part of the organization and its management - that to me there seems little hope the organization could ever be reformed. What we could replace it with is the question. How about some ideas folks ?
More Recent Developments Regarding the CBC - November 9, 2007 This recent development is extremely serious, and in my judgment should be a clear warning signal for us to get this corrupt organization under control, or shut it down. On November 8th, 2007 - hours before a CBC promoted documentary about the Falun Gong in China was scheduled to air during prime time, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation withdrew the documentary from its lineup, saying the decision was influenced in part by telephone calls from Chinese diplomats in Canada. The documentary “ Beyond the Red Wall: The Persecution of Falun Gong ” is produced by Peter Rowe of Toronto and apparently is highly critical of the Chinese authorities documented persecution of the peaceful meditation movement of the Falun Gong. The documentary was already broadcast in its French version with no apparent consequences. The English version had also been shown already, but not in prime time, but apparently in the middle of the night. The program is produced by Peter Rowe of Toronto. The CBC will be the main Canadian broadcaster of the 2008 summer Olympics, which are being held in Beijing, China. So it seems clear we are looking at communist interference in domestic Canadian affairs, and communist Chinese attempts to intimidate and control a Canadian government owned and operated corporation. The CBC caved into the threats, or implied threats and caved into the pressure from the communists, yet we Canadians are the owners of the CBC, and we fund the organization through our own taxes. Who gives the Communist Chinese government the power to muzzle the freedoms of Canadians ? Only cowards like the CBC do that. If you stand up to bullies ( like the Chinese Communist government) and don't kiss their rears - they will invariably back down. The CBC is no longer just disgusting (with its left wing, feminist, anti-Christian, aboriginal, ethnic, politically correct, homosexual agenda and propaganda), but it is now a dangerous threat to our freedoms here in Canada. My suggestion - get rid of it - it stinks too much.
More Recent Developments Concerning the CBC - November 10, 2007 The corrupt shenanigans of the CBC never seem to end. The CBC is basically a left wing organization that promotes socialist causes and their favorites are the likes of the NDP and left leaning Liberals. Years back they were great supporters of the likes of communists such as Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe, Africa. Mugabe through his insane and corrupt policies has now driven the former Rhodesia into the ground. You can read one of my related articles on the subject called The Black Man's Burden, where I am highly critical of the western left wing media who made up all kinds of lies about the former Rhodesia - especially the likes of the CBC. The CBC has witnessed with horror the rise of popularity by the Harper conservatives in the polls. They are in a sweat over this matter. I personally could detect the fear in the eyes of some of the senior journalists on CBC TV as they discussed the rising of the popularity of the Conservatives and as they are faced with the possibilities of a Harper majority. They had to do something to try and smear Harper, so they can influence the outcome of the next federal election, which could come very, very soon. So they have retooled the old smear job they and the Liberal Party did on Brian Mulroney - the so-called Airbus affair. This time they want to try and smear Harper by implying Harper had discussions with Mulroney regarding this matter. It is a classic attempt by the CBC to smear Harper and the Conservative Party - a left wing media smear job. A smear job designed to spread doubt, suspicion and false perceptions of the political foes of the CBC. This is designed to influence the upcoming election - naturally in favour of the Liberals and NDP. Brian Mulroney was cleared of all these allegations. Let me quote an article from the Ottawa Citizen dated nov.26, 2005: " The former Prime Minster launched a $50-million defamation suit against the Canadian government after this, alleging the Liberal government of Jean Chretien was engaging in a smear campaign against him. An out-of-court settlement saw the government publicly apologize to Mr. Mulroney and pay his $2 million in legal fees. Later, the RCMP cleared Mr. Mulroney. Ontario Court Justice Paul Belanger did the same for Eurocopter yesterday when he ruled there wasn't even enough evidence to take the matter to trial. The judge found no evidence to support the RCMP and Crown allegation the company committed contract fraud in a deal to supply 12 machines to the Canadian Coast Guard in the 1980s. " And the CBC did the interview of Schreiber and are milking these accusations made by a man sitting in jail in Toronto, who is ready to be extradited to Germany, where he will face criminal charges of bribery, fraud and tax evasion. The story said that Mr. Schreiber swore in an affidavit that while Mr. Mulroney was still in office, the two struck a deal for him to be paid $300,000 after he retired. The timing is interesting. Schreiber was about to be extradited to Germany - he lost his appeal to avoid deportation. So now we get these sworn unproven allegations by Schreiber, and if there is action by the Canadian authorities on these unproven allegations then it is quite likely Schreiber will not be extradited to Germany yet. He lives to fight some more here in Canada - a country that seems to love inviting in and harbouring all kinds of criminals and other assorted low life characters, but which persecutes law abiding citizens like me. Mr. Harper was also named in the affidavit by Schreiber. Mr. Harper was reported to be "surprised" to see this. Schreiber alleges that he gave a letter to Mr. Mulroney that was to be shown to Mr. Harper at Harrington Lake. Mr. Mulroney and his family had been guests of the Harpers at the official summer residence in August, 2006. Mr. Harper said in response that no documents were presented, nor did he and Mr. Mulroney speak of Mr. Schreiber. And it has been reported that this is what changed everything, as the allegations now "touched the office of the Prime Minister," said a government official. "He (Harper) just decided we have to clear the air once it touched the Prime Minister's Office." Harper has taken the CBC bait. He is more concerned about perceptions than justice. He was reported to have been furious over the allegations that connected him with Mulroney and this Airbus affair. So he has launched an independent inquiry into the matter. He is now distancing himself from Mulroney, because Harper is more concerned about public perceptions than about friends, or about fairness and honesty. Do we really need to reopen this whole can of worms again, and put Brian Mulroney and his family through more misery ? Haven't they suffered enough already ? Hasn't Mulroney been cleared of this already in a court of law ? Why act on the allegations of a man (Schreiber) sitting in a jail, who is being extradited to face criminal charges in Germany. This whole business of an inquiry will cost far more than the $ 300,000 that is in question. The lawyers will be very, very happy. This matter should be just left alone - let sleeping dogs sleep. However, the CBC has baited Harper into reopening this whole can of worms. This will not serve tax payers interests, and will end up costing far, far more than the $ 300,000 in question. Why do I and other ordinary tax paying Canadians have to put up with the CBC any longer ? They cave into the communists. They use tax payers money to play their political games. They spread all kinds of lies. This organization should get out of the business of promoting their political agenda. If it can't be reformed then put the thing out of its misery.
Barb Higgins Running for Mayor of Calgary - July 28, 2010 Barb Higgins former Calgary CTV News Anchor has entered the race for Mayor of Calgary. She is very well known in the city due to here exposure for over 20 years reading the news on TV. I feel the job of Mayor is hers for the taking, as long as she does not make any serious blunders. She could still lose out, if she or her handlers make some big mistake, but this may be very unlikely due to Higgins media experience. People will vote for her in droves simply because of the name recognition, and because they like her style, personality, image and looks. Little is known about where she stands, other than she is a fiscal Conservative. But I feel this won't matter one bit, because Canadians generally prefer style and image over substance, and many Calgarians have gotten to know and like Higgins due to her high public profile. There is this unholy alliance between much of the established media in Canada and the politicians. It is a symbiotic relationship. They feed off of each other and support each other. You scratch my back I'll scratch yours. They smoothly transition from jobs in the media to political jobs, and vice versa. The jobs seem very interchangeable. Most of the established media and media personalities are in bed with the politicians and are also almost invariably part of the ruling class in Canada. Just think - Dave Rutherford and the Conservatives. The established media is mostly always just a propaganda tool of the ruling establishment. The politicians always invariably are chosen by the ruling class, since the ruling class are primarily the ones who fund and support the campaigns of the politicians. Then when the politicians are in power it is pay back time. Higgins has worked with CTV Calagry for over 20 years. I have seen the way her and her co-host Darrel Janz have worked on their popular news hour program on CTV Calgary. A very clever style indeed, and a projection of the image of authority - especially with the deep voice of Janz, which projects an image of trust and authority. Her and Janz are deeply and thoroughly part and parcel of the ruling establishment. Their news hour with Barb and Darrel was not just about news, but also about perceptions and the manipulation of perceptions and images. They worked smoothly as a team to project a favorable image of Calgary, and particularly of corporate Calgary. Clever spin doctoring and image manipulation. Projecting this phony positive image of Calgary, which is designed to create a positive business climate for corporate Calgary. Higgins has looks, media experience, and should be a shoo in for mayor, unless her lack of political experience can be exploited by her opponents, or unless she stumbles badly due to political inexperience. She follows in the foot steps of Ralph Klein, who was a reporter with CTV, Calgary. It is tragic and sad how deeply the media establishment is in bed with the politicians and the governments here in Canada, and Alberta. All of them (media, politicians and government) are part and parcel of the ruling class. It is a sickening symbiotic relationship. Little good can come from it. In this process the first causality is usually the truth, and instead we get propaganda. These people feed off each other and work together, and their aim is to insure that the ruling establishment (of which they are part of) continues to rule, and maintain their status, privileges and perks. Serious issues that get to the heart of matters, and to the heart of the political games being played are almost never dealt with. If this were to happen then this could lead to serious questioning by the ordinary people of the way the ruling establishment plays politics to keep the common people down.
QR77 Radio There are numerous opportunities to call in on one of the Talk Shows to express your opinions. There is a fairly good mix of programs, but they do tend to run quite a few USA based programs particularly during the late night. QR77 is a strong commercial station, quite business orientated, and runs numerous commercials during its prime time programs. So obviously there must be a lot of people listening in and those who advertise with the station must feel they are getting good value for their dollar.
Dave Rutherford and QR77 Talk Radio There is a lot of useful information on this program. However, much of it is the rehashing of old worn out subjects. The problem with these Talk Shows is that since people hear hosts like Rutherford, and his guests talking about important, current subjects - they can easily get the false perception that now there is nothing more they need do, since the matter is being discussed and so it must be on the way to being dealt with. This is a dangerous assumption. And it is a false assumption. Therefore too many people do not take the necessary concrete actions to help solve our problems. These programs are therefore castrating the public. The program is basically all about Rutherford. The name Dave Rutherford is rattled out continuously. It is all about ratings. The more people who listen - the higher the ratings are. The higher the ratings then the more money they can make through commercials. The Dave Rutherford show repeats relentlessly the name Rutherford, Rutherford, Rutherford, Rutherford, Rutherford, Rutherford. Rutherford, Rutherford, Rutherford. His name has been spoken multiple thousands and thousands of times over the years. His name must be a money maker for the station, and it is all about the ratings. You know sometimes I feel a little concerned that I use my name too much on my web sites. However, the number of times I use my name is minuscule compared to how often the name Dave Rutherford is used on QR77. Additionally Rutherford has been responsible for projecting a false image of Albertans to the rest of the country. Unfortunately what has happened is that too many have assumed people like Rutherford, and those who call into his program regularly are fair representatives of Albertans. I never gave these people authority to speak for, or represent me. Talk Shows are fine. It is good to discuss the issues and get out the information. Programs like that help us in understanding the various issues. However, people should be aware that this is just talk. They should be aware that talk alone won't solve our problems. They need to take some concrete actions, like joining a political party, supporting a political movement, and so on. Rutherford is in my judgment a fairly good representative of the ensconced, comfortable media establishment. These people are part and parcel of the deeply rooted corporate and political establishment. They have their comfortable salaries, their high social status, their various perks, their long vacations and jaunts around the world. The status quo benefits them enormously, so most of them are not going to serious rock their comfy boat. They will milk and push the various hot button issues, but will shy away from doing anything really tangible and concrete to solve these problems. Basically people like Rutherford are part and parcel of the establishment, and the establishments main aim is to preserve their own status and privileges.

Charles Adler Adler had a strong human side to him. He makes a lot of good points I agree with completely. He can be very fair minded if he wants to be. He is usually quite entertaining to listen to. This guy however is deeply in bed with the Conservatives - I don't know how he can stand sharing the bed with Dave Rutherford. I sometimes wonder if he thinks us listeners to be idiots or something - when he tries to manipulate the news, and twist and distort things, and discredit the other parties, like the Liberals and Ignatieff. You know years back when the USSR (the old Soviet Union) still existed the Communists had their official newspaper Pravda. It was a propaganda machine of the Communist Party. The established media here in Canada (too much of it) has also become just a propaganda machine for the ruling establishment.
Why Not An All Canadian Radio Station or Media Company ? What I'd love to see is somebody - just somebody in the Canadian media go all Canadian, except in matters of news. Of course we must be aware of government regulations in this area - and abide by the law. Man alive just think about listening to a station that just played all Canadian music like 100 % country and folk music for example. Or a station that had 100 % domestic Canadian cultural content. A Canadian station that supported playwrights who write about Canadian stories. No I am not talking about the CBC folks - they are too interested in their political agenda to be concerned about real Canadian culture. Naturally - we would understand it if there was a bit of mixing with the USA, due to the fact that some artists might have dual citizenship, and our economies are so closely intertwined, and there is a lot of family ties between the two countries. We really do have a lot of world class high caliber Canadian talent in the music, entertainment and cultural fields. We have a lot of very talented native artists, who need the attention and exposure. Being all Canadian would not mean watering down the standards, or being poor quality. We do not have to take the back seat to anyone in culture and music. We have our own artists, and our own stories to tell, and we have people we have been and are willing to tell us these stories - be it either through their music, of through the theatre, and other cultural means. People like Tom Connors for example, and Ian Tyson, the late great Canadian George Ryga - the author of Canada's best known English-language play, The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, and so many, many more. Right now our Canadian artists are not getting the support they need and deserve from home here in Canada. And we are forgetting the great Canadian artists and great Canadian culture we used to have, and are not preserving and publishing our cultural history as we should. We are forgetting our cultural history. I remember I used to borrow a great tape from the main Library in downtown Calgary - called I believe Folk Songs of Canada. In this tape was an amazing collection of real Canadian folk music, performed by real professional Canadian singers - so genuine and pure, and so great it was to me a treasure. In it were songs from Newfoundland to British Columbia, and including the North. Songs like Squid Jiggin Grounds, 'I'se the B'y That Builds the Boat, Acadian Saturday Night, A Little Bit South of Saskatoon, Farewell Nova Scotia, Goin' To The Barn Dance Tonight, Moody Manitoba Morning, Big River, Williams Lake Stampede, Christian Island (the song was not done by Gordon Lightfoot, but by a singer with a deeper clearer voice - whose name I have forgotten), and a lot more. They destroyed the tape at the Library, because apparently it was getting tattered a bit. I have not been able to locate it anywhere else. What a shame that we are losing so much of our rich cultural heritage. So why don't we change that ? Why don't some Canadian investors get together and support me in starting up and running an all Canadian media and radio station - based on our common traditions in Canada. A station that would have no political axe to grind, but which was there to showcase Canadian artists and our common culture. I am open to the idea of Canadian investors helping get such a station or media company off the ground - I already have a very good idea as to where we would go here - and I would certainly incorporate the common culture I have been able to identify here in Canada. Media Bashing of Sarah Palin (this happened during the Presidential election campaign) This article is a bit outdated, but I will leave it up here for awhile yet. The USA media establishment is for the most part left leaning and Liberal. They are in an agitated, frenzied state of hostility and bias against Sarah Palin the running mate of Republican candidate for President John McCain. I watched some of the debate between Sarah Palin and Democratic Vice-President candidate Joe Biden. I felt Palin did very, very well and spoke directly to the voters, and connected with them. Biden came across as too Lawyerly. I watched some of the commentary by the USA media concerning the results of the debate. I realized full well that no matter how well Palin did the USA media for the most part would not give her any credit. They are out to get her, and to do everything in their power to destroy her, and to slander her, and to harm her and her reputation. The hostility most of these people within the entrenched media establishment have towards Sarah Palin is palatable - their dislike and disgust for her is so strong you can smell it and taste it. This is not an unbiased free press - we have in the USA. I am greatly impressed by Sarah Palin. Man alive if we have could only have her come over here to Alberta and be our Premier. Then she could take on big oil here in Alberta for us and help get ordinary Albertans like me get a much bigger and fairer slice of the energy pie - that is now going mostly to giant energy corporations. I am really envious and jealous of Alaskans for having such a level headed, sensible, competent, well spoken, conservative, pro-life, Christian, supporting traditional family values, gutsy (and good looking) Governor. You know she was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, which is real close to the BC border - and she grew up close to the Canadian border, and she lives in Alaska, which is very close to Canada - actually closer to mainland Canada - then it is to mainland USA. And she hunts moose - we have moose here in Alberta too, but admittedly they are not quite as big as those Alaskan moose , she is a hockey mom, she loves the outdoors and nature, her husband won the long distance snowmobile championship, she knows all about winter and snow - so really Sarah Palin is kind of half Canadian already. Just think - if we could somehow make her an honorary Albertan, and Canadian - then draft her to be our Alberta Premier so she can get our finances and spending here in order and take on big oil for oppressed citizens like me. Golly can't Americans and Alaskans just loan her to poor Albertans like me for awhile ? It just isn't fair for them to hog all the good leaders for themselves. After all we are relatives and brothers you know - so relatives and brothers should share. In 2008 each eligible Alaskan will receive $3,269, of the state's oil wealth plus a special cash payout to help with high energy costs. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell announced in Alaska in 2008 that every eligible man, woman and child will receive $2,069, of dividend payments from the state's oil royalty investment program distributed annually. And add another $1,200 from the state to offset soaring fuel prices. This one-time energy rebate was backed by Governor Sarah Palin the chosen running mate of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. In Alberta ordinary Albertans like me, who were born and raised here - get almost nothing from the vast energy reserves we have. Ralph Klein gave us a miserable $ 400 each back in 2005 I believe. We get such money maybe once in a generation, or once every 50 years !! It make me sick to realize how cheated we are here in Alberta - compared to how well ordinary Alaskans are treated by their government (the likes of Sarah Palin the Governor of Alaska), and how much they are getting of the States energy resources compared to us pathetic Albertans. When I did the research about how much Alaskans and Norwegians are getting from their non-renewable energy resources compared to us here in Alberta - I was ill - I felt sick. We are being screwed so badly here in Alberta by the big energy corporations, and their pals in the Alberta government - that its just plain sad and pathetic. And we have the Tar Sands for Pete's sake. The established United States media (for the most part) is a serious enemy of the truth and freedom - it is a similar story in Canada. They don't want to give us the real news - the real story - they want to make and influence the news - to fit in with their political agenda, which for the most part is a left wing, Liberal agenda. Many, many Americans know the game these media manipulators are playing. Therefore the USA entrenched liberal media establishment has in general seen their credibility seriously damaged. They (like their Canadian counterparts) have very little respect from the public generally, and are on the same level as corrupt lying politicians. Their frenzied, insane and unfair attacks on Sarah Palin show us how dangerous these people are - and how big of a threat they are to democracy, truth, freedom and fairness.
Where is the Media Accountability ? Why is it that the media can get things totally wrong - make very serious mistakes - yet there is no price to pay for them ? They can get the facts wrong - ruin lives and reputations and they get away with it always. Why ? There are no rolling of heads and no firings- to my knowledge. There are few apologies from the media neither. Why ? To illustrate - take the relentless propaganda campaign the left wing western media inflicted upon the nation of Rhodesia a good number of years ago. Their barrage of lies directed towards Ian Smith and the nation of Rhodesia was instrumental in helping to bring down that government and allow for the emergence of the corrupt communist Robert Magabe as the ruler in that country. Magabe has since ruined that country - the name was changed to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe today lies in ruins, and a lot of people are now starting to die from cholera. There are calls for Magabe to step down. So where are the apologies from the CBC and other left wing media outlets like the BBC ? Will they now admit how wrong they were to condemn and oppose Ian Smith ? Will they apologize to the Zimbabwean people for all the lies and misinformation they spread about their country when it was called Rhodesia - lies and misinformation which were a contributing factor that allowed the brutal thug and dictator Magabe to gain power ? Why is it that if I make a mistake at work there is a price to pay, and I can easily be fired, but the media can get things totally wrong, and nothing seems to happen ? Look at the situation a few years back with the USA media and how they silently and sheep like went along with the lies of the Bush Administration regarding Iraq - where Bush claimed that Sadaam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction at his disposal that were a threat to the USA. We now know that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Yet this was the justification for the Bush administration making war against Sadaam and invading Iraq. The media for the most part was silent in the face of these lies. Did the USA media pay a price for their complicity ? No they did not. Look at the situation with the death of Princess Dianna. The paparazzi (the media hounds) were a contributing factor to the death of Princess Dianna - since Dianna's driver was trying to get away from them on that fatal night - and the driver ended up speeding and subsequently crashing.
